More than 140 global payments, tech and banking companies have backed a new US dollar stablecoin called Open USD. 

What makes this interesting is that the mass consortium move is being pitched as business payments infrastructure rather than a retail crypto product.

The venture is run by an independent company called Open Standard, but includes launch partners such as Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, Google, Shopify, Coinbase and major banks.
