NSW budget 2026: What small businesses and startups need to know
NSW has just handed down its budget for 2026-2027, and most notably, a replacement for the axed Business Connect program has been announced.
The NSW budget delivers a new $37 million small business advisory program, a workers’ compensation premium freeze, and extra toll and transport relief. But there are no broad tax cuts or large grant programs for small businesses and startups.
Much of the heavy lifting for founders still comes from last year’s $79.2 million Innovation Blueprint package and the 2026‑27 federal budget, rather than fresh, targeted funding in this year’s state budget.
Treasurer Daniel Mookhey has framed this as a “relief and reform” budget, prioritising cost‑of‑living help and long‑term investment while keeping spending growth in check.
