Australia doesn’t have many huge family-owned businesses left, not with so many foreign takeovers, the emergence of super and private equity, and the ongoing preponderance of ASX listings. Unlike US entrepreneurs like JP Morgan, Dow (and) Jones, and Jack Daniel, to name a few, ours are generally more modest and don’t pencil their names on the door.
But among the few Australian billionaires still running their eponymously named empires, the biggest and richest is 89-year-old trucker Lindsay Fox, whose multibillion-dollar empire LinFox now has 5,000 trucks, the majority of which carry the message: “You are passing another Fox”.
