Apple is suing OpenAI over allegedly stealing trade secrets through former employees, as the companies battle over the future of AI hardware.

Just two years ago, Apple was sprucing ChatGPT as a flagship feature of Apple Intelligence. Now, it’s suing OpenAI for allegedly stealing the secrets behind its next generation of hardware.

Apple has filed a lawsuit in a California federal court alleging OpenAI orchestrated a coordinated effort to obtain confidential information about unreleased Apple products, manufacturing processes and suppliers as it builds out its own consumer hardware business.

In response, OpenAI has said, “We have no interest in other companies’ trade secrets.
