The closure of beloved Melbourne cafe Two Franks has inspired an outpouring of customer support, and messages from fellow hospitality operators anxious about the future.

Two Franks co-founders and sisters Angie Markou and Chryssie Swarbrick announced the Coburg cafe’s closure last week, citing the soaring cost of doing business.

Swarbrick had catalogued the highs and lows of opening a cafe in a regular SmartCompany column, and exposed the business overheads behind each cup of coffee.
