Wrong hires are costing Australian SMEs a staggering $7.3 billion a year
One wrong hire could cost a small Australian business as much as $16,000, according to new research from employment marketplace Seek.
Insights released by Seek today show Australian small and medium businesses collectively bear an estimated $7.3 billion per year in costs associated with new hires not working out.
The research was conducted by advisory firm Nature in February 2026 and surveyed more than 950 small businesses across Australia and New Zealand.
