Internal emails reveal why Industry Growth Program pause was so quiet
Internal government emails reveal officials planned not to proactively announce the pause of the federal government’s Industry Growth Program. Instead, the Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR) prepared messaging to only use “if asked”, according to documents obtained by SmartCompany under the Freedom of Information Act (FOI).
The documents reveal senior DISR officials planned to update the Industry Growth Program (IGP) website to notify businesses the program had been paused for new applications. They also advised there would be “no mentioning” of the change in proactive communications or media releases.
